Rich H and Jake

Rich is a combat veteran, having served in both Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan) and Operation Iraqi Freedom. As a result of his service, Rich suffered from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), severe anxiety, back problems, and neurological problems. Rich was matched with Jake, a Labrador Retriever from Partners for Patriots, and experienced an instant bond. Jake and Rich quickly became inseparable, and Jake helped Rich manage both his physical challenges and anxiety issues connected with PTSD.

Rich summarized the tremendous positive impact Jake has had for him by saying “I truly believe that having Jake in my life has not only improved my mental and physical status, but also saved my life.”
